Imperfect Orange

Imperfect Orange is an Indian art and culture collective that publishes weekly research-driven content. As a Graphic Design Intern, I translated long-form articles into visually engaging Instagram carousels.

Design That Gives Culture Form

Stage 1

Read and analysed the article provided by the research and writing team to understand its tone, context, subject matter, and intended audience.

Stage 2

Researched relevant visual references, cultural cues, and design directions to develop a visual language that complemented the story being told.

Stage 3

Designed the final Instagram carousel in Illustrator, structuring information through layout, typography, and imagery to create an accessible reading experience.

The remaining slides from the Indian Radio series, expanding on the article through archival imagery, illustrations, and supporting graphics.

The complete Kari book review, carrying the publication's visual language across every slide.

A carousel reviewing The Robin Hood of Kathiawar, inspired by the novel's vibrant cover, folk-inspired motifs, and playful colour palette.

This internship strengthened my ability to translate research into engaging visual narratives while adapting to a wide range of subjects, styles, and editorial voices. It also gave me the opportunity to return to one of my favourite intersections: design, art, and cultural storytelling!
